International Assistance Mission
Started in 1966, the NOOR Eye Care programme is the largest and longest running IAM programme in Afghanistan. Over the past four decades, in spite of frequent warfare and civil unrest, we have treated literally millions of patients needing eye care. We are now seeing more than 260,000 patients every year and performing more than 6'700 sight-saving surgeries annually. We also are the leading organization in training local eye care professionals in all levels of eye care.
Mercy Ships
Mercy Ships, a global charity, has operated hospital ships in developing nations since 1978. Following the example of Jesus, Mercy Ships brings hope and healing to the forgotten poor, mobilizing people and resources worldwide, and serving all people without regard for race, gender or religion. Mercy Ships follows the 2,000 year-old model of Jesus: the blind see, the lame walk, the mute speak, and Good News (the nature and character of a loving God) is proclaimed and demonstrated among the poor. Mercy Ships welcomes volunteers who would like to give of their time, efforts and expertise to the work of bringing hope and healing to the poor.

Global Health Outreach
GHO is one of the mission wings of the Christian and Medical Dental Society. We support medical and dental short term mission trips to many countries each year. For ophthalmologists GHO might be perfect for those that have other medical providers in their family who wish to go on the same mission trip and be used in their own capacity. Our trips often have a variety of medical specialties or dentists. The Christian Medical & Dental Associations exist to motivate, educate, and equip Christian physicians and dentists to glorify God by: living out the character of Christ in their homes, practices, communities and around the world; pursuing professional competence and Christ-like compassion in their daily work; influencing their families, colleagues, and patients toward a right relationship with Jesus Christ; advancing Biblical principles in bioethics and health to the Church and society.
SEE International
Our Mission: Surgical Eye Expeditions (SEE) International, Inc. is a non-profit humanitarian organization that provides medical, surgical and educational services by volunteer ophthalmic surgeons with the primary objective of restoring sight to disadvantaged blind individuals worldwide. Our History: SEE International was founded in Santa Barbara, California in 1974 by eye surgeon Harry S. Brown, M.D., F.A.C.S., who envisioned a way to connect the treatable blind with the skilled hands of surgeons. He saw his colleagues as an untapped reservoir of professional skill with a desire to serve the less fortunate of the world. SEE International celebrates its 30th year of restoring the precious gift of sight through surgery and bringing light and joy to thousands of children and adults around the world.Health Talents International
HTI developed and operates the first Church of Christ surgical facility in the western hemisphere. In February of 2002 we dedicated a brand new modern facility called Clinica Ezell. It consists of three surgical suites, a 50-bed ward, clinic exam rooms, pharmacy, lab, and X-ray room. Adjacent to the surgical center is a dormitory that houses 44 visiting team members, a large commercial kitchen and dining area. We are a holistic ministry that provides both physical and spiritual care in Latin America, particularly Guatemala. We host three eye surgery clinics per year and are eagerly searching for ophthalmologists to join us in providing sight to the blind. Ten surgical teams travel to Guatemala each year to perform cataract surgery, hernia repair, hysterectomies, and cleft palate repair on the rural Mayan and ladino population living in the area. The cost of participating in a surgical clinic is $650 plus the cost of your plane ticket.(Effective 1/1/2012) for Guatemala and $700 for Nicaragua, with a deposit required at the time of reservation.
Lighthouse for Christ
Founded nearly 40 years ago by a California ophthalmologist, Lighthouse provides healing of physical and spiritual blindness on the East Coast Province of Kenya. We practice world-class eye care in our fully equipped eye center and surgical hospital.
Medical Teams International
Medical Teams International sends several specialty training and care teams to developing countries each year. Health staff living in impoverished regions do not have access to continuing education or current medical textbooks because of limited resources, ongoing civil conflict and geographical location. Our volunteers provide hands-on, up-to-date training in their area of expertise and most leave behind medical and surgical reading materials and textbooks. When our teams return home, in-country staff use their expanded medical knowledge to serve patients in the local community for years to come. Medical Teams International also provides donated diagnostic equipment to local partners for use in hospitals and clinics. Health staff use this critically needed equipment to improve patient care.
